Ferry booked now for Spain in January, I have a 11kg Alugas refillable bottle onboard and are taking a full calorlight 6kg bottle as well I have placed an order for one of these from Hamilton Gas, I hope it is the right one so that I can also use a Spanish bottle once in Spain as they are only €12 for a refill. The mobile home has a fixed regulator on the gas locker bulkhead with a pigtail fitted that I hope will go straight to this adaptor, could have bought a Spanish regulator cheaper, but not sure if you should use two regulators at the same time. I have put a screen shot up of this adaptor.

Also I am going to take my firestick loaded with UK channels which I am presently using in Spain at the moment in the villa I am renting, but it came with wifi. I am going to need good Internet when we are touring, I have a 100GB with three on my phone, but noticed it's not giving me 4G here in Spain, I have tried manually selecting a different operator for roaming, but it does not recognise others and defaults back to Yoigo, Im hoping to tether my firestick from it, think you are allowed about 20g allowance in Europe.
My wife is with Tesco mobile but her contract has expired so I could give them 30 days notice and take out a contract with another provider, can anyone recommend which provider has 4g tethering in Spain and a decent allowance please.

Three`s roaming partners in Spain are Telefonica, Movistar and Yoigo, we found manually selecting Movistar was the best one.

Thanks but I have tried selecting others manually that show up when I do a search and it just says cannot connect and defaults back to Yoigo which is rubbish. Might have to try my Son in my wife's unlocked Samsung phone to see if that allows me to choose a different provider. We are in the Costa Blanca region, so whether other parts of Spain give better Internet reception, I'm not sure.

These are the other providers coming up on my phone, Telephonica Isn't one of them for some reason.

Do you have a MiFi device by any chance, I get a better reception on my MiFi than I do on my phone, it pulls in more options and has a better signal. This is in the UK but I would think it is due to better antenna in the device than where I am. There are loads of folks on here that do Spain though so wait and see what they say if you dont have one

No that's something I haven't got nabsim, i have always used my phone to tether things too, have you any recommendations for one and I presume you just put a data SIM I to it.

Re gas. I would have thought you could buy a EU adaptor (not regulator) to screw into your Alugas connection and fill up at a LPG (GPL) pump? We have an underslung gas tank with a filler on the outside of the van. We screw in the EU adaptor and fill up. There are apps to show where to find GPL stations in Spain.

Re wifi. If your'e on sites most have wifi free. If not a mifi device with a 3 24gb sim is good. You can buy 4g antennae to plug into the mifi. I'm used this week when the site WiFi went down and the antennae made it possible, but only 3g. 4G isn't available everywhere. I don't know if choosing your own provider will work. I think you have to use the one they work with in the area you're in which the device will choose automatically as the strongest signal. But I could be wrong.

Thanks for your help I already have the fitting plumbed into the side skirt with the different adaptors for the Alugas bottle so can top that up at any LPG filling station, but I also want to be able to use a Spanish bottle as well as they are cheaper than filling up the Alugas bottle, plus if I am on a site, I don't need to drive the motorhome off site looking for a filling station, I hoping to just go and get and pick up a fresh full bottle of gas, just asking for confirmation if I have brought the right adaptor, as I didn't want to use a regulator on the gas bottle when it would be feeding into the vans regulator.

I bought an unlocked Huawei 5577c earlier this year to use in the van, that’s how I know signal is better. I thought I had seen posts that EE was better in Spain because of the 3G/4G issues but I may be wrong. I thought I would just buy whatever SIM worked where I was going. I did get an aerial I can connect but not needs it yet.

Can't really help on the gas bottle (we have a dual-bottle Gasit permanent installation that takes LPG from forecourt pumps), but regarding the mobile data: we use a Huawei MIFI with extended aerial (bought from https://motorhomewifi.co.uk), and we either use a specific data-only EE sim (I have an EE contract for phone, so the data-only sim wasn't too much), or, to double up, we bought a SIMYO data-only sim which is a Spanish service specialising in better deals on data connections.

The Simyo is a 'top-up' service, we pay something like €28 for 30GBs of data, (IIRC) which is the best deal I've found anywhere. The data lasts 3 months and also comes with roaming, so we can use it in France or the UK as well (and hook into whichever provider is best). I think in Spain Simyo piggybacks on Telefonica (but can't remember exactly).

Thanks for the recommendation. I have seen this advertised for £59.95 so will have to get one ordered, I have also seen a post that suggests you can get a data sim from Vodafone for £30.00 a month that gives you 50gb a month and you can get it on a 30 day rolling contract, so not tied in for 12 months. Out of interest which aerial did you go for, might get one ordered as you can bet they would be dearer to purchase in Spain if I found that I had a weak signal.

This is the one I have, think it was slightly cheaper when I bought it, as I say I haven't really used it much so cant say if it gives a decent boost or not. Jennie (minisorella) has the same antenna and she has used her abroad I believe so may be able to say if it does boost as it says, it does have the two aerial cable connection to suit the 5577C unit Antenna

There is more info and some other members views and equipment details in this thread as well MiFi Routers

Thanks I've ordered one just like that. Just need to sort a data SIM card now once I return to the UK ready for the trip in January, don't really need it until we set off on the 19th January, so will go to the Vodaphone shop in town after Xmas to get one.

I wasn't aware you could tether while roaming on 3

Yes I use it to tether my tablet abroad, works in all of Europe and even the USA, but even though I have 100gb of data per month I think there is a limit of 13 GB when out of the UK, although I think it is now 19gb whilst in the EU. There used to be a limit of 30gb of tethering whilst in the UK but this limit has now been lifted so I could tether upto 100gb whilst away in the UK now. I have noticed though that I only get 3g speed in Spain though, not had 4g here.

You can tether all allowed data now with 3. Also if you’ve unlimited data contract in uk you are now allowed to use 19gb of it while roaming but you only get 3 g signal.

You can use all the vodaphone data to tether and get 4 g signal. Worked very well for us a few weeks ago. Expensive but saved a lot of money in cafes etc
