Done quite well, arrived in Moffat Town centre, liz in chippy getting supper, set off at 4.50 fuel light just came on, diesel is £1.41.9, 5p cheaper than home.

Heading towards Selkirk on the morrow.

if you are heading to Selkirk from Moffat, will you be touching the M6 and A74M?

Depending on your time, a stop off at St Marys Loch might be nice?

I haven't been there myself, but I was told last year by a Forum Member at Kelso that there is a pleasant overnight stop at Meggethead Reservoir, located between Moffat and Selkirk (see link - https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@55.4896472,-3.2421743,12.94z?entry=ttu )
Apparently parking spaces to suit a few camper and they are by the water and nice and level.

We stayed at grey mares tail last night David, we used to stay at St Mary's Loch but they banned campers a good while ago but have seen some recently, we sometimes have breakfast at the cafe there, use the loo, fill up and empty the bin, handy stop, we don't need to this time, and we've stayed all around here over the years, were going to go right up to Skye but we don't need to rush, so out to Selkirk and beyond.

I was going to mention Grey mares tail waterfall actually :)

St Mary's Loch is nice for a short time (talking couple of hours, not days) but can be plagued with flies and bugs sometimes, so next time I head that way will look at meggetshead.
You are heading my way going to Selkirk ;)

They now have estate rangers who collect a charge for staying in that area. They may ask you to move to a different spot

We turned off past Megget, a lot of caravans and transits in the car park, just having a coffee in "the wee crook" very midge north west so heading via Glasgow north east.

At least until my traffic manager informs me otherwise.

This for Grey Mares Tail? I thought that was an NT location and overnighting was ok if a member?
 
While you’re somewhere in the vicinity will you consider Falkirk, and then you can go see the Kelpies and the FalKirk Wheel? The Kelpies car park should by now be open to MHs to park overnight as will the toilet block. It used to be closed at 8pm but it is all changing. Blue badge will make it a freebie. We parked out at the other end and paid £10 for no facilities last month. It was still worthwhile when we returned to visit it at night. Still light at 11pm though. We were until March then we binned them due to their attitude to disabled folk, but GMT is open w4 hours and is pay and display for none members.

We did the boat elevator ride etc about 3 years ago, no pictures left phone in the van.

We might address that this time.

There was a bloke manning the car parks, he wandered around this morning but we were on our way out by then.

I believe Megget is covered by a warden too, Meg. A nice chap, I always offer him a cup if he has time to spare. Not been that way for ages, dirty campers have spoiled this area.
 
Has anyone reported being moved on or made to pay anywhere?
 
Pudsey, at St Mary’s, Loch of the Lowes, there is a basic campsite, was there with grandson when covid restrictions were lifted. Also near by in the next valley is Honey Cottage campsite, which is near the Tushielaw Inn, handy stop to dump and take on fresh water.

We have never stayed on a camp site in 16 years, we did when we had the tent a couple of times but even then mostly wild camped, if we ever had to we would sell the van, not snobs or anything it just isn't our thing, someone has just pulled in behind us about two feet from the bumper.

Ve vant to be alone.

No, but if feels not right stop for a while and move on.

We don’t mind paying for a campsite where the fee is reasonable. Nice to chill, put out the awning and table and chairs and chill. Which is what we are doing right now. Only £15.00 per night, I have lost more out my pocket running for a bus and, no point being the richest corpse in the cemetery. Enjoy 👍
