Is it just me or are led mains voltage lights very short lived? The reason I ask is in the last year I have had to replace the light bulb twice in my living room and I find that after a few weeks the bulb is nowhere as bright as in the beginning, yes I do buy from the Chinese shop but looking in the better shops I see all the lights are made in China anyway . Also the lights in my van are not as bright as they were but I don’t know where they came from. .

I have found they usually don't seem to meet the claims that are met, either failing totally or going dull or flickering. Not just mains ones either :(

I've been using some GU10 lamps from Denmans made by Compton that are less than 2 quid for ages now and not had a failure. I think it just depends. What type of lamp are you using?

Ps - I've not seen an led dim, that's new. I have seen them flicker quite a lot

Hi. The bulbs I am using indoors are just the basic screw in type costing 3.50 euros each. After about a couple of months she who must be obeyed starts to complain that the light is not as bright and to be fair she is right As usual.

Well, it was generally brighter a couple of months ago pmsl.

Buy a couple of a known brand and see how you go :)

Never had much trouble with leds from china,2 i think went in early days but the new type have been in now for over 3 years.
Make sure the ones you get are for correct voltage, some are only 220v and we use 230v.
Most ceiling fittings are b22 and some standard lamps have the american e27 screw fitting, but also make sure they are smd diodes and not the old glass bead type/
Also colour of light, soft for bedrooms and living room, pure white for kitchens and bathroom.
About 9w bedroom, bathroom 10w kitchen best to use new strps at about 30/40w,living room 30w if its large 18/25 for smaller.

Thanks everyone who has replied ,I think part of my problem is living in Portugal the mains voltage goes up and down quite often at the week end if it is raining you notice a huge voltage drop .Thanks again.
