Does anyone know of any campsites with easy access into London that are open in the winter?
Preferably on the west or south side...
We used to stay at Alexandra Palace which was great as there was a bus into town at the gates. Unfortunately closed now.

Sorry thought you meant CRYSTAL PALACE which as I said is still open

I would personally recommend the Chertsey C & CC site. Having lived in the area it is in a lovely location and within walking distance or a short bus ride to the station for trains into London.
Chertsey C&CC

Lovely location , we were there last week.

That's great. Thanks folks and what great news that Crystal (not Alexandra!) Palace is still going!

Another vote for Abbey Wood C&MC site, very easy bus and or train ride into central London.

We used it regular when our son lived in London by London Bridge.

You`ll need to book early as it fills up especially with all the foreign visitors and is very often full.

We stayed at Crystal Palace a couple of weeks ago. Bus no.3 is 5 mins walk and 1 hour to trafalgar square. Train Station 20mins walk and half hour to London Bridge. Buses run all night.

Did I say about the f'ing awful journey into the site from the south and a similar F'ing awful journey out to the M40.
And that was on a Sunday afternoon !

Go somewhere civilised, as far away fromM25 zone as possibles!!!!

If We’re visiting London we usually stay at Windsor used the car park right in town centre next too train station for a couple of nights and there’s a nice site called Swiss Cottage at Henley

Couldn't agree more. We have to go to Sevenoaks occasionally and do all sorts of variations to miss its horrors.
It is nice to go into London occasionally tho and then it is a relaxing jaunt down to Sevenoaks on small roads...

Mmm, London. best avoided if you ask me, cost £20 to fart there. My tip is to stay in Milton Keynes which is a sort of campervan heaven, lots of re car[arks that seem to encourage overnighters, and then got the train in from there - if you must go!!

down there this Friday, never have a problem getting to the site must be 10th year, dinner and a show, xmas lights, cant beat it.

I like Wyatts Covert, although it is CMH only. 30 min walk to Denham, nice village with a couple of pubs - some of Midsomer Murderswas filmed there. Train station there takes you to Marylebone.

Currently in Thurrock Premier Inn Purfleet looking at Dartford M25 crossing, worrying about the trek back to Cornwall tomorrow afternoon after 7 hrs work! Would only wish the M25 on a few select people ?
