Looking To Buy a 2nd Hand MoHo

Hi all and thanks for accepting me to the forum.

I've come across the forum before when I have done searches but watched a video today by Urban Motorhome recommending the forum so decided to pop in and register.

We're looking to buy a 2nd hand MoHo and I have been looking in the usual places such as Gumtree, Autotrader etc but a bit disappointed. So many simply do not respond or ask for money to be transferred prior to even viewing the MoHo so I started looking at private sales but then when I ask some fairly simple questions I find out there are problems or they simply do not answer. In one example it took me a week to get a copy of the habitation check and I discovered that the gas system was not working, the fridge failed and the heating system failed. Couple that with the high damp readings and I decided to pass.

Now I am under no illusions that with a tight budget (15k) I'm not going to get a van that's in perfect condition but at the very least I'd expect the owner to tell me what's wrong so I can budget that into the purchase and/or repairs.

We actually had a 20 year old Ducato 2.8 7 metres here a while back and loved it.

Does anyone know of any reputable sites where we might find a van?

Location: Not important. I am travelling over from Tenerife and will be in the North so Scotland would be preferred but for the right van I will happily drive to the south coast if needed.

I know of a nice 2006 Burstner A Class Tag Axle that will be up for sale, but sadly not close to your budget :(

Really depends on layout and facilities.

The budget is low as I know how much I need to spend to make her 100% off-grid and ready for Scottish winter.

Feel free to PM a link or contact details.

If you want to send me an email I can pass it on to the owner. You can email me at info@wildebus.com.

Just to be clear, it is not a van I am selling or getting anything for selling ... it is a van I upgraded the batteries on for a customer (it has 320Ah of Lead Carbon batteries around 6 months old plus a 50A Victron B2B).
It is also located in Scotland in Ayrshire.

I found Ebay the best place to look for used vans, getting further info has changed as now you need to give them your details before you can ask anything which I suppose stops a few tyre kickers but I think it will stop genuine people wanting to give their details too.

What details are required

Go onto Ebay and search for a van then use ask seller.

Yes that’s a bit open to spam and also the selling of information to others….

Says mr. smith with a made up tele number and a disposable email address.

Ebay has all the info they need already.

I had to go look as I'd not actually used it yet.

I don't mind the seller knowing my name and town, but I'm adverse to giving my number and post code.

I sold my last camper on eBay. Worked out very well as long as you filter out (mentally at least) the chancers.
I took great pleasure to reply to one person who kept telling me I was asking too much to let them know it was no longer available as has just been collected with the buyers paying more than the asking price. (I don't do haggling. If someone wants me to knock the price down, I'll take a penny off :) )

I've bought loads of cars and vans off eBay without an instant of anxiety.

Oh no sorry there was one occasion, engine management light came on after I had the car about a fortnight. Seller and me living on opposite sides of gap between Trent & Thames so bit of comms required while he arranged & paid in full for some extensive work under guarantee.

eBay is great for browsing & there's also protection if you pay by paypal. Just make sure the vehicle is real before you part with cash because some aren't. If you're not familiar with using eBay & spotting scams get a friend who is to look with you.

I'd volunteer if you're not too far away...
