We have several bird feeders in our garden and attract many wild birds, Yesterday afternoon I was sitting in the garden watching the birds , Jackdaws , pigeons blackbirds gold finches sparrows etc about 20 in all,, when all of a sudden there was a mad flapping of wings and all the birds were gone, a Sparrow Hawk had appeared on our fence, beautiful bird, it sat there for about a minute and then flew off, not a bird returned to the garden that afternoon,
Then today the exact same thing happened again , it appeared to be the same Sparrow Hawk, I think it must be a young one as it just sat there looking angry and no kill, so it will be interesting to see how this progresses as I am sure it will be back.

We had a mass of Swallows putting on a flying display, over the orchard, as we had breakfast.. 15 minutes of aerobatics.. Never seen such a large collection.. They were feeding.
Then a mob of Azure Winged Magpies crashed, noisily in.
Game over, they all disappeared.

2 Crows wait for us in the same place every day in the Woods because we have fed them dog treats for the past 15 years, although these 2 are probably the offspring of the first pair. Anyway, it has always been quite civilised and pleasurable .... until last week.

They have a child. :(

The kid is the most noisy, badly behaved little tw erm Crow I have ever come across. It is shouting to be fed non stop, if it was my kid I would choke it. The parents don't seem to mind its terrible behaviour and feed it. Two seconds later it starts up again. Thank goodness we are away tomorrow for a couple of weeks, hopefully they will have chased it away by the time we return. :giggle:

The Blue Popinjays have the already sent the Nightingales packing..
Neighbours from Hell..!
But a lone Golden Oriole is back, calling, " I'm here !". Just as the first figs are ripening, on the trees.
The locals call them, "Pappa Figo s: Fig Parrots. And that is what their, "I'm here ", call sounds like.." Pappa-Feeeegoh.
Their operatic, Springtime, territorial and mating song is absolutely delightful.
Too hot for all that nonsense, now.

Yep the SPARROW Hawk was back this evening fabulous display the Black birds are not happy making a right old racket.
We have a problem with a bird of pray. After spending years introducing wild birds to our garden the damned thing rips them to pieces. I'd shoot it if it moved a lot slower. Then we have herons eating the fish! This nature conservation rubbish doesn't work with too many top predators

All part of natures cycle of life, we had a pigeon fly into our window I left it alone thinking it was only winded. Next morning I was up early and was about to pop out the front door to check if the bird had survived but noticed something large was on our patio table through the stained glass window in the front door. I crouched down to peek through the letterbox to see a buzzard ripping up the pigeon for breakfast, waste not want not.

May still be the original crows they live to a good old age.
