Low emissions zones in France

The French National Assembly has voted to include the abolition of ZFEs (low emissions zones) in a bill that is currently going through the French parliament. It is still necessary for the entire bill to be approved (with this measure still included) for the abolition to take place.

Pragmatism at work! The French have recognised that LEZs et al penalise the poorer members of society who may well have [or otherwise!] perfectly sound vehicles that they cannot afford to scrap during the continual cost of living crisis. I believe that the Spanish Government is also considering similar measures because of the financial burden that falls on the poorer members of society. I bet Keir Starmer and Rachel Reeves are already working on their own first draft for the UK; aye, right ... Acting in concert would require her to be given free tickets for the gig ...

Just based on the UK experience - I only mentioned a couple of names who have a record for hoovering up freebies that are beyond the reach of the lower echelons of UK society [based on wealth and/or income] ... (y)
