i know there have been several posts about the withdrawal of lpg supplies i have always smiled smugly having a nearby flo gas depot with lots of cheap gas ! not anymore i went in to top up before i set of south only to be told they have no autogas and will not have any until march!!

LPG at the pumps is often in short supply at this time of year because the domestic and commercial demand is much higher. It doesn’t necessarily mean that LPG is in short supply just that the deliveries are going to higher priority users. The delivery tankers are very busy, our tanker has been known to deliver overnight. In summer the tankers have more time to top up the autogas system but this is not a big part of their business. In cold weather I can use nearly 100 litres a week keeping my home warm.

I fill up the motorhome LPG in the early autumn to make sure I have enough to get through the winter.

i also have a 1200ltr bulk tank & my heating hot water are both run from this i usually have one fill a year £550 this year but they always send me an offer of a few pence discount per litre if i have it filled in the autumn , it was an actual flo gas depot that i went to and the manager seemed guile cionfused that they told him march till he would get a delivery,

I know and heard all the stuff over the last few years about future shortages of lpg and just shrugged them off as scaremongering but the big refinery at Grangemouth will be closing next year and that will make a massive difference as it is one of the major suppliers of lpg to the uk market.

Hiya Wully, Grangemouth will cease refining oil some time in the near future. Site will be used to accommodate importing oil, I would guess gas too, LNG tankers will do the gas drops I would think?

Filled the first 11kg bottle at lunchtime with 20.94 Litres, and the gauge showing on the bottom of the red line; so probably not before time ...

Steve sounds like your on a spending mission the last few days have you turned to the dark side or have you found somebody else’s wallet. Can’t wait to see your spread sheet this year smudged with tears. 😜

Naw, Wully, just spending what is necessary to keep the trip on the road (and all expenditure is recorded ...) :ROFLMAO:

The LPG was the first refill since 13th December so just under 11kg in a month is quite frugal. Also filled up with diesel, AND went mad and used a launderette as well as buying a replacement set of windscreen wipers. Won't switch them on unless absolutely necessary though ... (y)

As long as the pump remains out of order, they'll not run out of LPG.

Ah OK, I was assuming you are taking the tunnel. I mentioned Berck as Rouen can be a mare to negotiate. Make a note though, a gas point for the future.

Will be a different trip for you both when you set out from your home, will take a while to adjust. Enjoy your trip and safe travels.
