Mains power lead

Hi, sorry to be a nuisance with my question's. Hopefully we will going over to France and Spain for a few months in January, I have a 25 metre lead to plug into mains power posts and also two leads that have two pins on one end of the plug, presume this is for use in France and Spain, one I believe is for reverse polarity should we come across it, we also have a plug that tests for this. I have read that it would be wise to get a two way splitter, incase someone is already plugged in to mains power and there is no spare outlets but I cannot see one for the two pin plugs, only the one that we use in the UK, does anyone have a link so that I could buy one please.

Most French diys Mr Bricolage etc or the larger hyper markets sell them, but to be honest we don’t carry one and have never needed one in over 25 years of cruising around europe.

I've never had to use a splitter anywhere to be honest. I'd put in on the list of stuff that you only buy if you really find you need it... so easy to get carried away and buy all sorts of stuff that you'll never use. Yes, I'm speaking from experience

Just a thought... you probably know this already but I'll say it anyway in case someone else doesn't I was chatting to a friend the other day who'd bought their first motorhome. By coincidence, it was a beautiful old Mobilvetta. One thing they didn't realise is that a 3-way fridge shouldn't be run on 12v unless you're driving, when it's taking power from the alternator. This is often an automatic thing when you switch on the ignition but can also be done by hand. I remember being told to only ever run the fridge when camped on gas or 240v. I always plug my fridge into the mains at home at least 24hours before going away and the 12v when driving can maintain the temperature in the fridge and freezer during the journey. I know there are compressor fridges that run on 12v all the time but, as far as I know, these aren't at all the same as standard 3-way fridges.

Yes thanks for that, in the handover they told me it can run off 12 volts and if you have the fridge freezer in A mode(auto) and it does not have 240 or gas, it will default to 12 volts, he said to best switch that off and manually select which source you want to use.

You definitely don't want to use a splitter in Germany.

Many sites you plug into require a Euro cash payment to activate. You'd be "borrowing" your neighbour's money if he got there first and he'd want to discuss the matter with you!
