Has anyone got any great leads to GOOD insurers, as ours is about to come up for renewal and we are being "Shafted for being loyal"
i'm sure this is not unusual, so we are at a loss to know who to go for now.
Any advice very greatfully recieved

I thought I was being shafted at my renewal. I shopped around and found very significant savings, the best being from NFU. Even allowing for buying separate recovery I saved more than a couple of hundred quid. Before giving me the figures I was told that their prices were not always the lowest but they did not discount new business and make up for it on subsequent renewals because they valued longer term loyalty.

Recently posted the vagaries of 6 companies I contacted ... other people had different results with some of the companies. Even though they seem to use the same bank of insurers, they come up with different prices and limitations. Dependent on so many factors, such as nights away, post code, where stored, age, value, security on board, which countries you plan to visit, excess ....
Sorry, but to get the best value deal for you, you will have to ring lots of companies for quotes. Just make sure you are an honest injun, or or the insurance can be invalid. And google the underwriter to check reviews ...

If you have an A class van, before committing to the cheapest quote confirm the level of windscreen insurance cover. I ended up going for the second cheapest quote because the cheapest only covered windscreens up to £1000. I decided to pay £100 more to make sure I had improved windscreen cover.

One thing you can try ( it worked for me) is to let it run out. Go back after a full day's overrun as a new customer. That way you get the new customer rates and discounts. Don't let them treat you as a " cash cow", watch out they don't pump up the excess without you realising.

What would you do if something happened on its uninsured day e.g it goes up in flames? I prefer the idea of shopping around if the current insurer appears to be trying it on.

I only insure my Moho for breakdown cover as the basic van.
Not sure I understand the difference, does this save money? I use the moho recovery because of weight and size limitations on car recovery.

Hi Geoff & Rema ,
I've been with Carole Nash since I completed my conversion a few years ago.
They quoted the best price at the time and the price has hardly changed, in fact this year it went DOWN from £282.69 to £270.99 so I'm definately not being shafted for being loyal.
My policy is Fully Comp with 90 days European Cover and includes Motor Legal Expenses Cover and UK and European Breakdown Assistance (which I used last year in France).
Carol Nash
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Paul

I always query the renewal quote with a phone call and say that if they can get it near to an on-line quote I would stay loyal. It just so happens that the on-line quote is almost the same as last years - it has worked for the past 4 years since I changed to the current company following the previous company calling my bluff!!!!
