Hi All,
Our motorhome is based in France, but we will be touring in the UK for 2 1/2 months April to June 2019.
Ideally we would like to store our Motorhome (with all our travel kit in it) while we return to South Africa via France by air and then return later in the year - say Aug / Sep - to continue our touring, before returning to our base in France.
Question is - not knowing where we will end up, how easily will we find really secure short term storage (+/- 2 months) at that time of the year, with little notice? Also, what should we expect to pay?
Any opinions appreciated.

You may be OK in the Summer....
But I suggest booking storage as soon as you can.
Look at
https://www.cassoa.co.uk/
On the assumption you will want secure
About £60 a month.
We have a site near Gloucester
So Taxi to Gloucester (£15-£20)
When we fly out
Dropoff MoHo 11am
Coach 2pm to 5pm
Fly out 9pm
Then Coach direct to Heathrow (£40 for 2 .....but variable)

When we fly in to UK it is 7pm so we use a travelodge LHR for 1 night. and coach next day 11am.
to 2pm the collect Moho 3pm then campsite

Finding a site with good travel links is a help
If you are flying from Gatwick you may concentrate on SE England !

You might get some joy by contacting campsites that offer storage. Many of these have seasonal pitches with a storage pound and some of the vans that are in storage over winter have moved back onto their seasonal pitches, leaving room for someone who wants to store during the UK camping season. I'd search UK Campsite or similar for places that offer both seasonal pitches and storage. HTH, Geoff

Thanks, some valuable info.
Guess we'll have to tie ourselves down to time and place of departure then, as it may add unnecessary stress to leave it open ended.
Ideally, would be near to airport that flies direct, low cost, to Bordeaux.
Don't know UK, well so any suggestions as to least busy airport where this could be achieved would be great.
I will then search for a facility nearby.

I've got a feeling Flybe fly to Bordeaux out of Exeter?
There is a outside secure storage facility around 5 miles or so from the airport, off the Sidmouth to Exeter road. I rented a Storage Container there for around a year or so back in 2006 and I recall there were numerous Caravans and Motorhomes also in the same site. Fenced all around with security cameras.
Extra Bonus being you will be a great location to start a tour of the West Country.

If you're coming into UK via the Roscoff-Plymouth ferry, there are storage facilities within a few miles of Plymouth. The Plymouth to Heathrow National Express 504 service takes about five hours and fares are £20 to £25 return. I suspect that all other ports have similar. You'll probably need Google or similar to find a suitable facility.

Our current plan is to:

Travel from base near Bergerac to Cherbourg early April, then
Ferry across Cherbourg - Rosslare (Ireland) in mid April, then
Ferry Larne - Cairnryan (Scotland) early May, then
Scotland and Lakes district as far as we get by mid June before heading to storage late June.

Based on advice above, we will find & book storage now, maybe around Manchester and either return to Bordeaux by air and then back home to SA, or see if we can change our flight back to SA to be from UK instead.

We will return from SA via Heathrow late August, get to storage, collect MH and then continue with next leg.

This will probably be our only opportunity to see Ireland and UK this way, so we don't want to rush.

Any obvious issues with this?
