My letter from France

I have just received a welcome home letter containing my violation notice.
It would appear I exceeded the speed limit somewhere near Chartes by 6km/h and for my digression they have relieved me of €45.
This is not a complaint, it is the first time this has happened and I am just treating it as a tax, which our French neighbours need to keep their road suitable for us to get to Portugal as quickly as we can.
Hopefully we can get back there soon, hopefully I won't need to pay any more of these taxes, when we are next there.

Jenny was stopped , 30 years ago for doing 92 Mph on the deserted M1 at Meadowhall, Sheffield... In a Rover 213..
Her response was ..
" Ooh, I didn't think it could go that fast..".
Bless her.
So you and she are both members if the criminal classes..

It was on the 2nd April, the French like to take their tiime and mull over whether they need the money or not.

No I'm afraid the dastardly crime was committed on th 2nd, I always knew the French don't share our sense of humour.
It would have made a much better post if had been the 1st.

Fortunately it was I who violated them, it's always better that way, even if it costs you €45, it's cheaper than the counselling fees.

I got similar from Germany summer 2019
Only a few km/h over but only a minor fine..came within 2 weeks !

At least you do not get points on your licence which would bump up insurance

Have you thought of explaining that you are DC
Your eyesight is variable and you did not see the sign and anyway you cannot see your speedometer

We also got one in January but as Royal Mail forgot to redirect the post, we found out about it in May so it had increased to 180euros! I followed advice on here or wc forum and sent a letter explaining and 45euros . Not had a reply either way as yet.

I hope all goes well and our French neighbours are kind to you.
When I got mine I was concerned about the amount of time which had elapsed but it wasn't a problem because of the time it took to decide.

They sent ours four days after the crime!

We had a letter informing us of a fine for speeding in France on our way to Spain. Luckily it was followed a day or so later by and apology for the fine! As we were in Spain it took us a while to find out about them. We assume that the fine was for one of those violations that were scrapped after protests?

A cousin of a mate of my friend assures me Speedos show about 10% lower than actual speed.
Satnav should be more accurate one of the reasons I like one even if not using it for directions.
Also easier to see if positioned well
