At St Johns Church, west end of Princes St.

I dropped off my sis car at Airport park and ride for her to return home after her late arrival flight tonight. My plan was to take the bus home, then I noticed the tram stop, I have never used the trams before, so bought a ticket from airport to Princes Street. WOW, the short trip really allowed me to see parts of our capital I have never viewed before, or certainly see our capital from a different perspective. Murrayfield Rugby Stadium was really impressive as the tram passes at an elevated height. I said to Bea when I returned home, be a good and different day out for us to drive to airport P&R, take the full trip to Newhaven, then eventually return to airport P&R. If members are visiting the city, I would recommend a full tram trip to view our city.

I got got of at Princes Street, then short walk over to see what message was being sent out from the mural board. December 2022 was Woman-Life-Freedom image of those women cruelly tortured and killed by the Iran regime. The mural image I viewed today speaks volumes, check out the dates within the stonework on the mural!!

It would be early to mid nineties when I manufactured the framework which holds the mural image in place, when we went to install, I'll never forget the Bootleg Beatles were playing on the roof of the HMV store on install day, music while you work.Mural 2024.JPG

Being a teuchter, Terry, my old people’s bus pass isn’t accepted on the Edinburgh trams so I have always taken the bus when I need to rather than spending my paltry pension on the tram. However if it is as good as you say then when we’re down in a couple of weeks time I may do just what you plan. We‘ll probably park up in Newhaven (pity Loch Fyne‘s closed as we liked lunching there), free bus to the airport then spend all our worldly wealth on the tram back, so I hope it’s as good as you say.

Same for me Tony, bus pass cannot be used, Edinburgh residents only, I did slip up though, I should have borrowed my sis pass as she is Edinburgh resident and saved myself 2 quid 😁

2 quid was one way airport to Princes Street, no idea how much for full route, easy to find out guess. I found my short route interesting, I think you will agree when you do the trip.

By the way, I find the current mural colours very vibrant. Pity they dont leave a note of the artist/organisation name.

We took a long bus ride recently, an hour and a half there, and an hour and a half home again, and completely free with our OAP bus passes. 😄 Took the top deck and front seats like a pair of school children, and nosed into everyone's back garden. We had a fantastic meal that cost real money. ☹️ It was such a relaxed and great day out that we intend to repeat it.

A group I know used to organise pub crawls by bus, a different pub/pubs each trip, drink as much as you like without licence worries, or asking their wives to pick them up off the floor. 👍

tram from airport to stop at west end of Princes St took 25 mins, bus, at least an hour!!
