I needed to change the battery in our VW Sharan recently, After going through all the online discounters I chose Tanya batteries, The service was superb, the price very competitive, the delivery was next day. How good was that!!!!

For now simplest and easiest may be Halfords..just get the correct battery !

I agree with that advice.

Tayna are very good but one I ordered developed a fault and you need to comply with their terms on packaging and returning it. Then there is no guarantee you will get your money back. If there is damage by the courier, you will not get a refund. I recommend to everyone that they should hang on to the original packaging the new ones come in. I didn't and ended up just buying another battery from someone else.

To be honest, I don't bother shopping around anymore and just order from Alpha Batteries. In the past everytime I did compare prices, they were always best (and that was before any forum discounts) and on the very rare occasion been any issue, it is they who have sorted out courier collections, etc, so just a no-hassle best-price buy.

I too use Battery Megastore - they are near me but at only £5 delivery it6 not worth the trip!
Basically they are Hankook battery importers and rebadge under several other brands.
The batteries comes bare and they put appropriate stickers on.

Having said that the other already mentioned have good reputations

Well I bought a new Battery from Euro car parts with a big discount £89, 95. I paid lead acid Lion with a 3 year warranty, their depot was 2 miles from my home on an industrial estate, clic and collect, free delivery if wanted but I wanted to see the battery before I paid, as I wanted to be sure about it, I had it 4 days before I got round to fitting it, but all went well and the van started on the first turn of the key so a happy bunny. Euro car parts are like DFS sofa shops, always a sale apparently, my next door neighbor told me of them as he had bought 2 batteries a week previously, so a recommendation from him was good, click and collect was good, order on line and pay on collection, which I liked as no commitment till taking possession of the item.

Never buy in branch - click and collect with a discount will 'always' give you a better price.
I sometimes just place the order when in the queue!

I’ve bought batteries from Batterymegastore before and always been happy with them. They also have a base in France and last week I bought a new Varna F17 battery for our car from them with free next day delivery. Same price as the UK store.

If its damaged by the carrier then it's the vendors responsibility. Consumer Rights Act

Since reading reviews that silver technology batteries are good replacements for leisure batteries I have been using Bosch silver technology batteries from Costco, they are competitively priced and they have a no quibble return guarantee for 3 years. I'm lucky that I have one locally so I went and measured the various batteries to see which would fit.

I think we're talking about carrier damage during return which would be for the sender to arrange.
Most carriers limit their liability unless you spend a good bit more.
A lot don't like carrying lead acid batteries for private individuals.
Therefore unless you can physically take it back yourself choose a company that allows you to get it tested and send them the report.

The power frame batteries do seem to have a good reputation and are widely available at reasonable prices.
