Finally relented and let my daughter get a dog.
The Dogs Trust told them it was a Malinois / sheepdog cross ???? Apart from the white colouring on his chest I cannot see much sheepdog. Very intelligent but headstrong. My Greyhound is not impressed but tolerates him until she's had enough then puts him in his place. he's doubled in weight in 7 weeks, now 11kg and 5" taller than photo.

Our neighbour's Isabella German Shepherd had ears like that when it first arrived, and it's now huge. It's got a lovely nature, although their three cats aren't quite so keen 😳. If either of the neighbours stop to chat, their dog immediately becomes bored and tries to drag them home. 😄

Give him a little while and he’ll grow into those ears. Malinois are very intelligent and need plenty of mental stimulation.

If he is a Malinois cross he'll need lots of things to keep him occupied. they're a very intelligent dog but prone to being destructive if not kept occupied like all the Belgian Shepherds, and yes I know about them due to having a Groenendael/Leckenois cross.
