Old idea best

Great idea seen on rear of a older model.I have never noticed this on any van before.A vertical channel on both sides of the rear at the strongest part rather than the centre.Allows any height position of horizontal bars for bike rack, etc.
Why do such good ideas discontinue ?

So they can come out with the " New Improved " version which in my experience hardly ever bloody work

Hymer only made this elegant model for a year or two, for some reason. If I'm not mistaken, the thing in the picture which looks like a locker in the back panel is actually a drop-down bike rack. I've certainly seen one which worked that way.
