On the Via Verde

We cycled a bit of the Via Verde a few weeks ago: just the short bit between Benicassim and Oropesa. It was really good and very popular with Sunday morning walkers/cyclists in Spain.

There’s lots of them all over Spain and a website and app. Most are reasonably level although some climb gradually uphill. This one, VV Ojos Negros, was uphill on the way out and a lovely downhill on the way back so you hardly had to pedal home. Which was a change from the one I did last week, down towards the Ebro, and all uphill back.

Another fan of that one here, brilliant route. There’s a great barbecue restaurant just off that stretch about half way (on the right in that direction), great place to stop for lunch if you ever feel like treating yourselves 😀. It’s called Bar la Renega.

I just looked it up on Google Maps - that does look handy, thanks. I'll try and remember it for next years trip.
