My recollection stemmed from about 1948, [an article on the story of the 2CV IIRC], so a little before Top Gear's testing!

Maybe not powerful uphill, but on downhills in the Alps ours went like the clappers…clappers that appeared to lean out somewhat alarmingly on the bends!
