9 hours and counting in Walsgrave A and E.! Broken thermostat and temp has only just managed to get to 17! Outer doors stuck open a lot of the time so a nice arctic blast keeps awake those tempted to go to sleep because they have been here since yesterday morning at 8.30am!

Yes its high time GP's started seeing people again instead of putting everyone on the hospitals

GP's are not NHS (strictly speaking). I found that out the other week when they started complaining that the Budget change to Businesses paying more Employer National Insurance would affect them. The change only applied to private companies, not public ones.

So if they don't want to see you ------ it's a business decision. :(

GP's are contracted to the NHS though, so yet more government mis management?

I go into our surgery only 2 or 3 patients waiting , can't get through on the phone so have to queue outside befor 8 am in any weather , no wonder A n E can't cope

It's fast becoming a norm, from online enquiries to directions.
Recently served by a robot in a medium sized restaurant. At least that made me smile.
I can see the devastation of the white collar worker coming very fast.

Afriend of mine had a nasty accident and lost a lot of blood. I went with him in the Ambulance but the Doctors could not save him because they did not know what blood type he was to give him a transfusion.

I was impressed with how brave he was right to the end. He kept saying "Be Positive, Be Positive" until he passed away.

had a phone call from gp. surgery.....
..they wanted me to do a blood pressure reading
and send results to them....
..i asked how i did that,,.....didnt have blood pressure machine
was told i could hire one from them for 5 pounds which i
would get back when machine was returned.../////////?????? what,,,,,,,,flabbergasted i was
phoned chamist....they said they would do it.

having said that...i am most grateful to NHS for what they have done for me ....cannot thank them enough.....

One reason their is a lack of GPS is because they can afford to retire early and don't like paying high rate of income tax . just my opinion .

I have nothing but great things to say about our NHS waiting lists ?? My knee op was brought forward by 4 months when I was ill a fortnight ago we rang 111 and a Dr was at my house within 35 mins yes when I ring for an appointment I have to hang on the phone in a queue but usually get one but at the end of the day it’s Free and if we could stop it being abused by people who are not actually ill we could save a lot of time and money people going abroad for cosmetic surgery then costing the NHS thousands to put the ***** job right should be charged people turning up at A&E after a boozed up pub fight charge them extreme sports injuries should have adequate insurance to cover injuries if not charge them omg I could go on but I’ll put my soapbox away. 👋

Worth bearing in mind that NHS England at least (don't know about other UK nations) requires that you be offered choices as to where you are referred by your GP. It is worth visiting and reading all of https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/about-the-nhs/your-choices-in-the-nhs/ and also clicking the link on that page to NHS Choice Framework. Some cases (e.g. cancer services) may not be covered by the Choices Framework, but in other cases you can avoid extremely long waiting lists.
I was referred by my GP in January to an NHS hospital for a non-urgent condition and was not offered any choice (though I may have been asked whether a particular hospital was convenient). After an urgent referral for a different condition the following month and eventual treatment for that, I was still waiting some 8 months later in respect of the original condition, and the NHS app was telling me that the average wait was in the order of 24 weeks, so already well exceeded. Having done my homework regarding hospitals to which I could have been referred, I contacted the GP practice and pointed out that I had not been offered any choices. I was told that my waiting list was in fact 72 weeks, but was immediately offered a choice of initial appointments within 10 days at two different private hospitals and underwent surgery in one of them within 2 months of raising the choices issue with the GP practice. By following the right links from the web link above, you can eventually get to https://www.nhs.uk/service-search/hospital/, where inputting your postcode should bring up a link of possible hospitals for a referral. It is then a matter of checking whether any particular hospital (click on its link) offers treatment for your particular condition and perhaps checking its CQC rating.

That's not good at all Terry, I hope it's not the thin end of the wedge for the Scottish NHS.
