Picking up 4G in the van

I normally just use the phone and accept whatever signal I get, I'm not bothered about grabbing WiFi but would like to pull in a better data signal, H+ is all I get some days.

So is there a none expensive low tech solution?

I have a MiFi and put it on the roof through the open roof light. In a PVC air ha metal body ints not so good picking up signAL with a phone but with thew little device we can connect all our devices to the one source.

I looked at Mifi and it seems to want its own SIM.

I just want to amplify the surrounding signal that my phone can pick up.

If you don't want the additional sim, then the other option is an aerial booster. The cheap ones don't give much boost, so you are looking at £150 up to £500 for a decent setup ........

Wow!! Spensive little buggers, I think I'll just live without it, or go MiFi if desperate.

My low tech approach is to position my phone up in the skylight and use it to provide tethering for a tablet or other phone.

I noticed putting the blinds down can kill the signal and the cab seems the best spot.
When we were planning a repeat of 2022's 5-6 months away, and Shell increased the Broadband price from £38 to £60pm [because they were not making any money on Energy ...], we killed the Broadband supply and relied upon tethering via the Phone. We sit directly under [but in the shadow!] of the Signal Mast, and the signal is often very weak. At night, when we close the wooden shutters and the curtains, we know that the German Raddio Vans trying to trace the Resistance Radio Operators will never trace our signal, mainly because we don't really have one that registers anything worthwhile :D
