Rear View Camera

My rear view camera is on the way out and the screen goes blank after a minute or so. Also, the exterior 'window' is very scratched, resulting in a hazy picture. I'm hoping the camera itself is the issue. Unfortunately, I don't know what the make and model is and there was no info about the system in the documentation pack that came with the motorhome. I've attached an image of two views of the camera in the hope someone can identify the make and model. Thanks for any help given, Geoff

Waeco? Looks like ours, but this is just a wild guess! Ours lost the picture from time to time but I twiddled the connectors and the problem was solved!

You need not fit an identical model if the camera is faulty. It does seem to be faulty, given the symptoms.

I have provided a link to a company I have used a couple of times. They have a good range of cameras and their customer service is excellent. My last van had an unusual run of cable at the back and the old fashioned connector system. They sent me one with the fitting I stipulated but it was impossible to run the cabling through the bodywork. I rang up and explained the problem so they worked out what was needed and sent me another one, asking me to send the first one back. They posted the new one immediately (before they received the first one). So 10 out of 10 for service.

Thanks all for the comments so far...
The framework looks identical to my Durite camera system, but the camera part of it is different, mine is 10 years old though.
FWIW, I have no idea how old mine is. I bought the van secondhand 5½ years ago but it's a 2001 van, so the system could be over 20 years old!

Thanks for that. My camera is a tilting one and it looks like a four-pin connector. I'm not sure that all the cameras run the same pin out and 'protocol'. First thing is to fiddle with the connectors to see if that fixes the issue. If that fails, it's a phone call to the company you linked upthread.

Thanks. FWIW, I'm trying to avoid replacing the cable as it's fixed with cable ties behind all the cabinetry on the nearside of the van and I suspect I'd need to do a huge amount of work in way. So if I can't fix it by fiddling with the accessible connectors and/or fitting a replacement camera, then I'll probably be looking for a wireless system.

don’t know what part of the world your from but there’s a guy in lincolnshire who’s mobile (rob lefe ) i travelled to his place to have my camera refitted when i had the box on the rear he fitted a new second camera and spliced them in so i can choose high level or low great job happy to pass on his no if you think it might help

Thanks guys. I'm in Cornwall -- so opposite end of the country to Lincolnshire. Also, I'm trying to avoid replacing the cable as the current one passes behind all the cabinetry on the nearside and is probably cable-tied. So there's a lot of work in way!

The low level 2nd camers is a great idea! I had to adjust my camera to see over the bike rack on the Burstnner, so after about 30 feet from the brick wall/next vehicle, I'm reversing blind, or depending upon Elaine to jump down and wave wildly, until I lower the cab window, and shout, 'Where the bloody hell are you standing? I can't see you!', or something equally endearing; and then she rreappears in the cab and I wish I still couldn't see her ... Domestic bliss at its finest  😁

Opposite coast: i.e. South East, about 50 miles from Newquay. That said, we're in Carnewas (Bedruthan Steps)(about 15 mins North of Newquay) a few times each year as we set up a telescope for public viewing when a local astronomy group hold star parties there.
