My fridge burner is goosed RM8501 replacement part is £85 been quoted £335 by local specialist.
replacing burner unit is straightforward but two wires thermocouple and ignition go to control unit.
I am considering joining wires new to old rather than dragging fridge out.
Anyone have experience of this
Thanks

We had the 8501, can you not get at the back thru the vents , it’s an easy job if you can

Mine was replaced just 3 weeks ago by a specialist £125 in total, The coupling wires only need one cutting and rejoining as the second one has a spade coupling on it, this saved the hassle of removing the fridge and putting back all the sealant. It took 30 minutes in total.

Local specialist want to take the fridge out, judging by the price.

This is a DIY job and shouldn't mean removing the fridge.

Be sure to get a seat of the right height to be able to reach in through the lower vent hole without bending.
