Hi Everyone - any campaigners out there?

Would you be interested in supporting a campaign to prevent the demolition of an (almost) 500 year old Inn/Pub/Restaurant in a small village called Glazebury (Warrington, Cheshire).

The current owners have closed the Inn, saying it is not financially viable, and the Planners want to knock it down and build ten houses.

Objections need to be in within the next few days (by 7th Feb) but even so, the campaign will continue and needs lots of help.

I no longer live in Warrington, but I am helping via social media. So far I have contacted old Warringtonians (including Chris Evans and Rick Astley - but haven’t managed to get them on board yet). And I have managed to get a message passed to Griff Rhys Jones (who is a big campaigner on this type of issue).

I am also doing my bit by spreading the word to as many people as possible (including you wonderful motorhomers).

Even though I don’t live there, and have never actually seen the pub, I still want to save the building from demolition. I don’t mind if there is a change of use - just please don’t knock it down.

If you are interested, please have a look at this link to the facebook page “Help Save the Raven Inn”: https://www.facebook.com/groups/helpsavetheraveninn/?ref=share

If you can object, please do so. Here is a quick ’how to’ guide: 1) objections must include your name, address, and postcode, plus the reference number 2019/34186.

2) email objections to devcontrol@warrington.gov.uk
Or
2A) submit via website: Warrington Borough Council; homepage; planning and Building Control; see or comment; enter the reference number 2019/34186; click on the council generatedreference number which will come up on the left hand side of the screen; comment on this application.

There are some example objections on the Facebook page - look along the toolbar at the top and click on ‘files’. Objections have to give reasons, you can’t just say its a crying shame (though it is). Objections can be things like loss of historic building (connected with the Civil War); damage to environment; build up of traffic; loss of heritage/village amenity, etc.

Thank you for reading this far. Please have a look at the Facebook page - you can join the group and if you don’t agree with it all, you can leave the group.

The fabric of Britain is fading everyday, please help to save one small part of it. Thank you.

I passed that pub last week there another pub at the birch wood end of the road that’s also being knocked for housing development
