on our way to Holland lee& linda and jan and i visited the site of this tv series charting the building of a medieval style castle in a quarry surrounded by woodland using only traditional methods ie no electric tools, on site they cut down and trim all the timber & quarry and dress there own stone , they also make rope throw pots and blend their own paint, i was interested to see guys making roofing tiles by hand and they are almost unchanged from the rosemary tiles in use all over the uk,
jan and i first visited the site in september 2015 it was due to finish in 2020 and the completion date has now been put back to 2025 i think it is too good a tourist attraction to wrap up but for anyone in the region it is a good day out and quite unusual about midway between bourges and auxerre, it’s called castle guedelon

Did a visit a few years back intending to visit for a few hours and spent the whole day. Reasonable parking for Motorhomes but fills quickly but plenty of space in the general car park. Unmissable in my view.

We stayed at a nearby Aire in Treigny which is handy and pleasant. Look on searchforsites.co.uk
