SERPA PORTUGAL

We left Pomerao today had 2 very good days nights there and are now at SERPA sussed out all the wild spots and P 4 N places but decided on the Campsite , I know I know but what a surprise a new campsite now at the back of the old one which I suspect will be incorporated in the new one , large marked pitches plenty of water points and easy disposal place 10 Euros night all in except lecky, really hot showers too, step out of the site and there is the town which we wandered today but far too hot to walk about much today it is now 8 45 pm and still 22 degrees we are sat out side the van with a few beverages and a lovely sunset and of course nibbles we are on day 55 today so slowly working our way up Portugal which we are loath to leave because this trip has been so easy, cheap and comfortable , I was a bit concerned about coming this trip as I had read a lot of horror tales on various sites but am so glad we did as we have had no problems at all and have been able to use a lot of the old wild spots we previously used and a few really good cheap pay Aires and mini campsites, so a good decision overall.

We left SERPA today and are now at LUZ near Mourao free aire here all new all services Inc lecky all working too it has a barrier ticket entry and a pay on exit machine cards can be used BUT the barrier is permantly open and no pay room for 10 vans but more space AVAILABLE LUZ IS a brand new town built when the dam was being built as the original town was going to be inundated as the lake filled and now there is no sign of it, there is a great exhibition, museum here telling the full story all the residents of the original old town were moved into the new town which is IDENTICAL IN EVERY way to the old one, but apperently the residents did not like the new town as they found it creepy and many left, the town now is mostly deserted but still pristine, we went to the exhibition centre today and looking from the terrace there we could see vans parked at the lakes edge and the young lady at the desk said that they stayed there overnight and longer, so guess where we are now parked up??? The lake is teeming with very large fish and many large fish litter the bea H and I am sure some of them are Mirror Carp but the fish swimming about are long and shark shape so I don't know what they are it is 27 degrees here today but a nice breeze, if it is this hot today I think it would be hell in Summer?

We had a herd of cows pass by today one man and his dog several Calves and a couple of happy looking Bulls. Marvelous Sunset now 8.15 pm

Our new garden today Monseraz fantastic view over miles of lakes called in at Moura and Mourao en route here, wandered Mourao Castle,. Managed to get the van right to the Castle gates and park up for a while different story going back down as had to use a different route due to road closures and one way system, lot of reversing needed to get round corners but hey ho lots of fun and got out eventually.
