Shower Tray

Hi,

We are in the process of converting a Citroen Relay L3 H2 Van into a Camper Van and are looking for help and guidance about Shower Trays

We are thinking of fitting a Shower Tray approximately 100 cm x 70 cm and looking for an Acrylic Shower Tray with the drain hole in one comer

So far all we seem to be able to find are; Stone, or Resin Shower Trays, that need to be laid on a bed of sand and cement, not really something that we want to do in a Mobile Home

We are wondering what other people have done about sourcing and installing Shower Trays

Any help / guidance would be most appreciated

With Kind Regards

My first experience with an acrylic shower tray was it started to crack after a couple of years. The next one I had in another build was foam filled and very rigid. For the Betty build I'm working on now, it will have a custom stainless tray with a centre drain.

You can make your own out of PVC - ours was our first attempt and worked well and is a joy to use!
See below, also pics in our album showing how it was made. Looks harder than it actually was and the PVC is laid on 15mm ply so is solid and no fear of cracking, and the upstands would stop any possible leaks. Compared to the ones you can buy its a lot better.

The problem with shower trays in vans and caravans is that lots of them form part of the toilet area, and one has to stand in the shower tray to use the cassette toilet or the sink thus wearing shoes at times, and this is what makes the shower trays crack eventually, best way as I see it is to have your shower completely separate from the toilet thus saving extra wear and tear on the shower tray, note in the photo #5 how thin the material that the tray is made of is ? a crack waiting to happen,
