Some good news (for me)

I am pleased to say that I fitted a new fuel pressure regulator on to the high-pressure diesel pump on my Hymer today and it now runs perfectly!

:):):):):):):)

It was one of the most awkward repair jobs I have had to do. Even after stripping down the slam panel and other engine parts it was still a bugger.

Well sorted, all new wagons are a pain in the b-m when trying to do work on them, makers dont want you do do so but trade them in at the fist hiccup.

Is it a common fault with fiats or just you’re Donald and bet a fiat dealer would have charged a few quid for that at least you had the know how to fix it well done.

Good result.

Any pictures to show what you did? ?

No, I did think about it.
I used fishing line wrapped around the Torx bit so that I rotate the bit and screw in the blots because it was impossible to get a tool in on the back bolt. Then using many bendy extensions I was able to tighten them the last bit.

Working on this was so hard as the Hymer has a bloated front and small bonnet, most of the time you are working from feel with your face pushed against the windscreen.

Oh I'm so glad you've sorted it out Phil... I knew you would of course but I know it's been a bit of a pain. Well done you! (y)

Sounds very ingenious using fishing line, Isn’t it called thinking outside the box?

I also did some electrical work on an older Hymer, some years ago in Spain. I had to thread myself through the bonnet into the engine bay, and had the leccy bits, fed through to me. I also needed help extricating myself, but succesfully got the job done. Was very rewarding managing that task.

Well done Phil, but there again....... we all knew you could do it!

Can you just do it again, so we can all watch?

When you are famous like me you use a hand double for photos.
You know, Phil, that is a very good idea!
There are documented cases of fingerprint 'skins' being made with patterns based on photos of hands shown on 'the internet'!
