The ever increasing problem with excess stuff in space is well understood from risk of collision with other satellites to cluttering the sky interfering with ground based observatories so a manged deorbit seems a very sensible route but.....

So seemingly they are pretty much buggered either way.
I guess one day they will be able to get up there and catch everything with a giant Noo-noo
Just imagine how valuable all these bits of debris would be shipped to the moon or Mars as a supply of useful stuff!
