Mass Retirement? SpaceX Spotted Deorbiting Dozens of Starlink Satellites
An astronomer says SpaceX seems to be de-orbiting about four or five Starlinks every day.
The ever increasing problem with excess stuff in space is well understood from risk of collision with other satellites to cluttering the sky interfering with ground based observatories so a manged deorbit seems a very sensible route but.....
"Astronomers have been concerned that burning Starlink satellites threatens the ozone layer, pointing to the release of vaporized metals."
So seemingly they are pretty much buggered either way.
I guess one day they will be able to get up there and catch everything with a giant Noo-noo
Just imagine how valuable all these bits of debris would be shipped to the moon or Mars as a supply of useful stuff!
Old enough to realise I was watching repeats of tellytubbies often for the third time when my youngest started watching!Noo-noo. How old are you?![]()

Ah, I see, I'd done with kids by the time they arrived, I have seen them once or twice and it did look a bit fun for brain-dead folk to stop em wandering around in the middle of the road.Summat off Teletubbies, Puds![]()
