I had a phone call from a friend last night, he is down in Spain in their van, wild camped at ROTA , it is very busy with vans there he says , the field is being used [ that is for those in the know about the field] as is the proper Aire , friends van is parked in the road near the Aire as that is our preferred spot ,when we go there , friend also visited SEVILLE on route and wild camped in the street somewhere, they went Via the Tunnel , made me very Jealous and we are now thinking of following them down there ,

gut feeling is that there are a lot more campers than usual down here in some of our favourite spots but that might be because some of them are closed now , eg we were on punta umbria beach for the last 4 years 10-12 avg there this year avg would be 30 surprisingly 50% of them spanish this might of course be because morocco still has closed borders , we spent last night at sanlucar de guadina opposite alcoutim aire would hold 20 only 6 here & some look like locals vehs parked up ,

Ken.you left Punta Umbria and a load of caravans turned up....
We left today... and moved 50km towards Seville.....

Was there last week. It’s absolutely fine. Weekends can get busy, like most places; but midweek there are plenty of spaces there and other surrounding places.
Still not many UK vans to be seen

If Spain is mobbed, but there are few/not many UK Vans in evidence, has anyone noticed whichnationality/ies have filled the gap? Is it more Germans or Dutch or Swedes or a combination? Just curious

Steve

I'd say there are still a preponderance of Brits Steve but to my eye, more Dutch this year than previously.

We are near Murcia, mainly Germans, Dutch, French and the occasional Swiss on this private Aire. We've been here for 2 months and in that time there has been about 6 other UK vans and two of those were friends of ours.

We are now seeing more UK vans and cars.. We could go for weeks, walking into the village, without seeing one.

Portugal is mobbed. 104 vans got fined on the beach this morning. Germans & French most common, as per usual.
Never seen it so busy.

Where is Tomato beach, been beach parking for many years Portugal but not heard of one called Tomato beach suppose we all call the beaches by our own names ? I was once fined at Quateira on the fisherman's parking , along with about 30 other vans , 25 Euros it cost me but off and on I had stayed there for about 30 nights , a few days at a time ?

it is named tomatoe beach on the maps just before faleshia nr villamoura cracking spot but limited to 48 hrs parking & people take the mick camping chairs left out etc and stay for weeks

Thanks Ken. never been on that one used to walk to Villamoura from Quarteira when we could wild there, we did have a couple of nights once at Villamoura parked in the bamboo grove near the big beach car park, good to know Tomato is available for 48 hours though , cheers .
