DVLA delayed refunds

Got my refund automatically paid back to my bank account after they took out April payment àfter I had sorn camper so all good

Just one word of warning with SORN if you have a private Registration plate.
Previously when I wanted to transfer a plate from a Motor home. I had to take the motorhome on a 40-mile trip and take a half days leave to have the vehicle inspected. When I asked the inspector why it had to be inspected as I had transferred it previously without any issues. He replied I'm not allowed to say but let's just say I can see that the vehicle has been SORN'd. So any money I saved in the SORN was more than lost by the hassle and fuel costs etc. So now I don't SORN it and have not had a problem with transfer - Maybe I was just unlucky but it was in the small print that they could request an inspection.

I paid them direct from my bank - they should be able to pay back to my bank.
Just guessing, but perhaps HMRC have a direct debit arrangement and DVLA don't?
In my case, DVLA do have Direct Debit, but I've not bothered with SORN. I think I'd prefer to have it remain driveable rather than save 50p a day,
