On my way home from the Lincolnshire show I could smell plastic burning, so I pulled up at the services and checked the electrics inside my 2018 motorhome, but could not locate were the smell was coming from.
I then got out of the habitation door where the smell became stronger. It led me to the lower fridge vent, which I removed, I then removed the Plastic PCB cover were I came across the burnt PCB. I researched it and and a lot of these N3000 fridges suffered from the fuse overheating in the PCB, apparently there was a bad patch of them, not fit for purpose.
Reading up on it further I discovered that Thetford had brought out a more heavier duty PCB with larger soldiered tracks and a larger fuse to cope with the heat. I realised that Thetford products come with three year warranty which had expired a long time ago, but this did not stop me contacting with a complaint about this PCB, after all it's a well known fault and a potential fire hazard.
Well within a couple of hours I received an email reply from them asking me to fill in the warranty form, I did this, this morning and received another email this afternoon confirming they have approved my claim and will send me the part to fix it. We all moan how bad customer service has gone since the COVID lockdown, but I think this was a first class response from Thetford, so deserves a mention. Hopefully I will receive the part early next week then I can fit it.
