Anyone who happens to be around the Borders next weekend may find the car show at Thirlstane worth a visit. 1200 cars including a special display of 2cvs to celebrate the types 70th birthday.

were due to depart for inner Hebrides next Sunday via Glasgow but may just have to see if we can leave fri/early sat by different route.

Where is reaonable to get to an hour or two south of it, from SW M6?

Not sure, but you could do that then up the A7. As well as the mentioned pub there are loads of nice WC pois on the route.

Is there any sort of separate parking!!!

I doubt if there's separate parking, but it does seem very well organised so Im sure parking will be no problem. I was amazingly lucky to get a last minute cancellation so will be staying 3 nights on the local campsite, there's a run out for the cars on the Saturday.
It would be great to meet you at the show, the 2cvs have been given a prime spot in front of the castle
