Thule Awning disaster

We have a brand new 3.5m Thule Awning, pitched correctly according to instructions. First night of moderate rain caused it to belly and rip.
It’s now fixed but it appears to me there is not enough tension in the extension bars to prevent this happening again.
I’ve had to order an extra rafter from Thule.
Never had this problem with the three different Fiamma awnings we have had over the last 10 years, only Thule.
Anyone else had a problem or is it just me?

at 3.5M wide it would seem prudent to have a centre rafter to help against any pooling I would suggest.
my 4M Fiamma Awning comes with the centre rafter as standard and the 3M versions have it as an option

I've had a 2M Khyam Sun Canopy and needed to use a centre prop sometimes to help stop pooling in heavy rain ("sun" canopy! hah!) and numerous marques that have had to push the roof up with a stick to get to get rid of a penthouse swimming pool.

This kind of issue is no means a Thule problem.
