How times change.
In 1971 I parked my mini adjacent the Palazzo Poli one evening, and strolled the few yards around to the Trevi Fountain. We weren't alone, but it was reasonably quiet.
Tourism has steadily increased to around 30,000 people a day, and when I took the camper in May 2012, I parked outside the city, caught the train, but still found the piazza full to busting.
