Truro Park & Ride

Some time before lockdown we wanted to take the van to Truro and use the Park & Ride service to get into the city centre. However there were height barriers at that time. We went to Truro earlier this week and so I wrote to the parking supervisor, who responded that there were now no height barriers and also pointed out the best spaces to use. Here's the text of his reply:

Thank you for your enquiry regarding your motor home, you can park at either Langarth or Tregurra Park and Ride , and there are no height restrictions at either site. What we would ask is you park over the far side of Tregurra site, which gives you more space, which is alongside and close to the fields, and if parking at Langarth, please try and use the spaces next to the electric car charging bays , which can be accessed as you turn off Penstraze road.

Hope this helps anyone planning to visit Truro.

It's nice that the Council employee's reply tells you what you can do, rather than pointing out what is forbidden. Small courtesies of this type make for a welcoming attitude and can only help the local economy in the current climate

Indeed. The recommended spaces at Tegurra are both longer than regular spots and have a grass area behind them that can accommodate overhangs. Our 7m van fitted fine. I assume that the recommended spaces at Langarth similarly have an area for overhangs.
FWIW, the Truro P&R people have always been OK even when the height barriers were in place. A couple of years before lockdown they asked me to phone a quarter-hour before arrival and they'd have someone open the barrier for me. Complete contrast to "Visit Cornwall" and the county council in general IME.

Do they allow overnight stay ?

Do they allow overnight stay ?
No. They have conventional gates that are locked when the P&R service ends for the day and PCNs can be issued.

All cars parked in the sites must vacate by 8.30pm. If your vehicle is still parked after this time, you may receive a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN). If you think you will be late, call 0300 123 4100 as soon as possible to arrange the collection of your vehicle.
