Hi everyone,

It has come to my attention that a scammer has been impersonating one of our members, Alf, and reaching out to others—including myself—requesting the purchase of gift cards. Please do not buy any gift cards—it’s a scam.

If you have been contacted, please report it in this thread. If you have already purchased gift cards, please let us know as well.

A major red flag was that “Alf” included three kisses at the end of the message—and let’s be honest, he doesn’t love me that much! 😆

Alf is aware of the situation, but unfortunately, he has not had access to that email address for over three years. His actual email is a Gmail address, not tiscali.co.uk.

Stay vigilant and spread the word!

I have already had two phishing emails that did not get caught as spam as a result of answering 'Alf'. It is no problem as that email address is compromised anyway. It only gets scammers apart from the occasional message and everything gets deleted anyway. I have had my fun with the scammers, I might as well delete it now. As I thought it really was Alf, I gave him an alternate email address to use, so the scammer will have that info and I must be careful when checking emails from now on.
