Years ago my Escort XR3i had a Non Return Valve fitted to the brake pressure line.
The flexible pipes came to a small unit fitted under the dash and was enable by a key.
On parking I enabled the unit and took the key with me.
About 3 good presses on the brake pedal .... brakes were full on. On return turning the key released the pressure..
Fortunately never used in anger, but seemed a sound idea.

We used to use mechanical brake locks on trikes to comply with the reg that you had to have a hand brake. We simply drilled the lever and then dropped a pin or bolt in when you applied the brakes, others had something that would keep the lever depressed.
You could do similar with a van brake pedal but I don’t know if it would contravene vehicle constructions &use or MOT regs you would have to check. Maybe easier to apply a lock to the handbrake but not looked at it.

Good concept, but not one I would say is a sure bet or safe one, as not only will you have load proportion valves on the chassis, you have the ABS valve block to contend with, so your take off I'd say would be a challenging place to find and be reliable enough.
If you were to think of such a mechanical device, I'd be looking at a pedal box or clutch claw if you want to take that route.

What do you do about break ins?

That's impressive.

I did think about doing something which locked the drivers chair when it was facing the wrong way.

i have a break disc lock for the drivers seat, when it is facing the habitation there is a hole - factory drilled not by me - that is already there on the base and i can fit it to that.
i also have this fitted to the doors that hook over the seat belt fitting to stop the front doors opening. the site is german but if you use chrome it will translate it for you., they also do the prick stops but this is an easier option as you only have to undo one bolt, slip the bracket in and tighten it back up with the same bolt and attach the chain. https://www.womo-tuning.de/shop/einbruchsicherungen/fahrer-beifahrertür/

I drilled a hole in the seat base and fitted one of these.

I can also fit an alarm device to sound off if anyone uses an angle grinder on the padlock. But I am not saying how.

I prefer the ignition system from the coil diverted to the locking wire threaded through the drivers seat in many paces so they sat on alive seat when attempting to start. It doesn't work on diesels though.

I can lock my drivers seat bass-ackward so it can’t be driven
I do the same as well as other physical and electronic deterrents but that won’t prevent a guy in a HiViz vest hauling the van onto the bed of a recovery truck and whisking it away. No one bothers about a vehicle alarm going off if it’s a guy with a hi viz and a truck. They assume it’s a breakdown.

I remember many years ago sitting in a friends Reliant Robin van while he told me about his latest anti theft device. He said he had fitted a spark plug in the top of the petrol tank with a switch to divert power to it from the coil when he left the car so, if anyone started it without throwing the switch…..💥
I don’t know if this was true, but I never went near his car again.
