recently we have had large phonebills when returning from holidays overseas . if we text each other when abroad do we get charged ? any suggestions to keep bills down ? years ago we used to buy a spanish sim card , maybe time to do this again

Yes you get charged for texts to each other when abroad which is why we use WhatsApp

Thanks for the advice. I’ll make sure it’s on Nic’s phone before my next trip. Although it would be easier if she came with me.
