Warning signs

Hi everyone.
My cycle rack had a Fiamma warning sign which has completely fallen apart due to the sun ,does anyone know if they have to be a set size ? I have just made a new one but it is 2 inches smaller than the Fiamma .I am quite happy to buy a new one but nowhere near me sells them and if I had it posted Portuguese post would take it as a challenge to see how many bits they could dismantle it to.

Very upstanding and legal of you.
I will own up to not realising that you have to have one ?

So this regulation is not UK?
And only some EU countries each with different sizes, markings and materials?
I thought EU made all the laws in every country and we didn't have control?!

Only Spain and Italy require the square sign and each is slightly different. This advert shows the difference between the two https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/2in1-Rear-...-Bike-Rack-Caravan/918021426?iid=332079833528. To add to the confusion both could be seen to fall foul of our laws in that both reflect a white light to the rear. It's the Vienna treaties that set the international laws which can be partially opted out or added by the signaturies. The Vienna treaties can be adopted by any nation throughout the world, not just EU members.

Thanks everyone for your replies I will just manage with the slightly smaller one until I can get a proper one.

To clarify then - if a folded rack is inside a bumper a sign isn't needed?

The regs say "6. If the load protrudes beyond the vehicle's own profile, all appropriate precautions must be taken to avoid danger to other road users. In any case, the longitudinal protrusion must be indicated by one or two special quadrangular panels, covered with retro-reflective material, placed at the ends of the projection so as to be constantly normal to the vehicle axis."

So, on my van one would be needed on my folded rack in Italy and possibly Spain where the Royal Decree of 1428/2003, of November 21 says "2. When the load protrudes behind the vehicle, this signal should be placed at the rear end of the load so that it is constantly perpendicular to the vehicle's axle."
