Water heater dump valve

Ok so I dumped my water after my last trip out and today I tried to fill it but because it was cold every time I tried to put the pump on it started to dump again so how do you guys hold the little valve up until you have got the water and heater to a temperature that it stops dumping I know some of you put pegs on but I cannot reach mine to do this, I have however solved it with a fishing hook and a length of fishing line as my little dump valve has a hole in the side of it that I managed to get a fish hook looped through it and now all I have to do is pull the line tight tie it off on a hook on the wall and once it’s up to temperature slacken it off works a treat but it only took me 4 hours to sort it .??

Personally I would run the heater on gas space heating only. Once the temperature in the MH was above 7 degrees it should be possible to reset the frost valve

Never thought of that I will try that next time ??

Yup mine dose that ? I drove to Herifofd with a full tank, turned a tap on, dropped the lot and a instant ice rink

An R clip around the dump valve stem will stop it dropping. Of course it will not dump unless you remove it.

As soon as you put the heating on you can close the dump valve, you don't have to wait for the temperature to get above 7deg

I tried that but it still dumped it I had to wait until it was about 10 deg.

WARNING
If you run the heating with no water in the boiler
YOU MUST LET THE BOILER COOL DOWN

DO NOT RUN WATER INTO A COLD BOILER.

You risk damaging the boiler.

Wait 20 minutes for the boiler to cool and then fill with water.

Do you actually mean DO NOT RUN WATER INTO A COLD BOILER? I always refill my boiler at ambient temperature.
