Has been the greatest influence on your motor homing life.

For us, it was meeting a couple in their late 80s, on our first trip abroad. They'd come to rest in Beja, after 20 years touring the world. A retired Blackburn Bus Driver and his Mrs, they were a mine of inspiration and information . They really fired us up.
We returned, a year later, to find that he'd died, soon after we'd parted company and their children had insisted that Mum must come ' home '.
That's why we don't want to give up our unusual lifestyle.

Admin had greatest effect, by setting up WC. Seeing the great spots posted by others was my inspiration to get out and join in. In particular I remember some cracking pictures from a tour of the Hebrides. Took me some years to get a van in which time I began posting there. I remember lots of lurking before Channa got me chatting about 2cvs initially. I’ve still to visit the Hebredes in a motorhome!

Going to meets and meeting like minded people.

Also visiting Scotland. Although I've been up there hundreds of times, going there in a motorhome gave us a new freedom and I will always go back there.

We bought ours in 2012 and our first meet set our love for motorhoming in concrete, and the more meets we go to the better it is, also reading this and the Wildcamping threads kept it real when we could not go out anywhere cos Ron could not drive.

It has to be my parents as we alwaywent camping and the freedom we had as kids,where I always had my shoes off even in the rain! We used to go to “meets” all over the country then dad progressed to campervans then trailer tents then caravan we have had tents when the kids were little,caravans,camper van Motorhomes and it’s the freedom what I love about but lastly it had to be WC site that gave us the opportunity and the gumption to wildcamp

Not a great fan of camping at all, but I'd got me a new lady, Liz, and wanted to spend some proper alone time, just us, she found a book about wild camping, and I did still have a pop up tent from a Harley holiday I'd had in the 90s, so we did Scotland for two weeks, mostly wilding (never heard of wilding before) had a wonderful romantic flee bitten rain soaked two weeks, and we kept seeing campers parked up, late and early, didn't think much of it us being thicko newbies, but we'd been back home a few months and Liz decided look for a small camper, we bought a Autohomes Explorer and been at it 12 years now, and have always been a 100% dedicated wild camping only couple, in all this time only one site, Sligachan, when it was closed for winter about three years ago, not even used a service site yet, although if I could find an up to date list, we are thinking of using one now and then.

So Liz was my inspiration, worra woman.

For me it was an anonymous owner of an unknown motorhome I followed between junctions 28 and 29 of the M25 about 5 years ago.
I suddenly decided 'the family needs one of those!' and started looking for one within the week.
I've absolutely no regrets and have enjoyed the Moho so much that the rest of the family haven't had a look-in.
It must have had quite an impact on me for the detail to stay with me.
