While trudging the streets of Altrincham, this morning, we noticed that many brave souls were clasping their phones in one hand and a, rapidly cooling, paper cup of branded coffee in the other. Not much change from £3 ?
We, naturally, ended our shopping trip in Wetherspoons
£4.90 bought us one refillable mug for the posh coffee machine and a tumbler with a double rum in it.
By the time we'd thawed out, 40 minutes later, we'd had a mega cappuccino, a grand, black , rummy coffee and a double espresso apiece.
I reckon we got the rum for nowt.
Management wouldn't allow me to take the mug with us for use another day.
What other tips for the thrifty, do you have ?

Sale.. ? Nah... That's too down-market .. .
We are busy watching firework displays from Bowden, Hale, Hale Barns, Lymm..
All from our 6 th floor Travel Lodge room.. another freebie.

Only just drying off, Dave. We refused to leave the hotel room until every car below was passing without the screen wipers going.
It's a clear, chilly night, unusual for the 5 th.
Just seen a gritter , heading south..
Not seen one of them for over 20 years...?

Agggh !
Being in Altrincham, we dined at Bistro Pierre ... A mini chain of French styled eateries.
For us savvy discount card holders, they've brought in a special menu, 2 courses for a tenner. Very good value for what they have on offer..
" And what would you like to drink ? ", asked the waiter..
" I'll have a pint of the darkest bitter and a glass of the house red for Madame.."
When the bill came... The red wine was £4.95 for 175 MLS.
My beer was..... SIX POUNDS...!
' OW MOOCH ?? '
I'll not sleep a wink tonight.

As Katie Boyle used to say !
Ah Bisto !
But PJ as above Ugh Bistro..C'est La Vie
PS the Dark Beer came straight from the Irwell
And so "How are you" ..Er well !

6 degrees and drizzly.
We JUST had to go back to Wetherspoons and save some more money.
I was tempted to make further savings but was overruled.

That's true Yorkshire-nomics,
Phil.
