Hi everyone!
My name's Donna, I'm in me 30s and live up North (Tyne and Wear to be exact) .
My hubby and I are considering getting our first motorhome and I am toying with the idea of taking my C1 licence, so that when we're shopping around, we're not as restricted on makes and models and have a better option for payloads by up-plating. I will probably be doing most of the driving. Hubby has the C1 entitlement as he passed before '97.
My question is regarding the theory aspect of the C1 test. I bought a DVSA book to help revise for the theory and it all seems to be based around HGVs. As far as I can tell there isn't a theory for small and medium goods vehicles up to 7.5t so most of the stuff I will have to learn is for bigger trucks that I will never drive. I purely want to take the test for motorhome purposes.
Is it an all-in-one test does anyone know? Or when I come to book my theory (hopefully after passing the relevent medical) will there be a separate theory for smaller goods vehicles?, or do I have to learn all the stuff about brake lines and what speed is it on a dual carriageway if I'm driving a trailer which has 38t MAM etc etc
I have actually asked this of the DVSA and DVLA and couldn't get a straight answer out of either of them.
I'm hoping someone on here has experience of taking their C1 and what the theory entails .
Thanks in advance and sorry for the newbie question.
