Plenty of rain fell on Herts overnight.
This morning it's (temporarily) dry with pretty much still air at about 7°C.
So I'll nip off on the Brompton before the southern arm of Storm Brendan arrives.

Back in Portugal..
Half a stone heavier and 7 degrees cooler than when we left.
6 degrees at dawn .
Now it's struggled up to a bright 12 degrees, sheltered from the Northerly wind..
Rain forecast, tomorrow..
That'll be welcome and might raise the temperatures, somewhat..
Hang onto your hats, and sense of humour, when Brendan arrives..
He was a saint, so he might not be too bad.

Calmac in port, all 28 ferries,
All around the coast, the crews making merry
The seas are high, the seas are rough
Only a fool would go out in weather so tough
The views are great, the life so relaxed
But the life on an island can sometimes be banjaxed !!

I believe that's the first poem we've had here on the 'Weather....' thread.
Thank you.

Looks like we're getting the tail end of Brendan.
We awoke to a power cut, having had the heating on low overnight.
Luckily it was after the boiler had warmed up.
Probably caused by a voltage drop when the locals got up.
Ok now.
It's only 10 degrees max, light drizzle for the next 48 hours, increasing northerly winds and even 0 degrees forecast for Thursday night.
We've got hot water bottles, thermals ,honey, lemon and brandy, on standby.

The bad forecast hasn't fully arrived..
The Wind turned southerly.
It's a grey, cool misty afternoon.
We're ready if the wind swings back again and wouldn't object to a little rain.
It's been dry since Xmas, the ground is too hard for gardening and the cisterns are 75℅ full.

Bloody awful here, obviously my plea to Val54 didn`t work :(
I’m sorry we failed in our bid to divert Brendan from your hallowed Lancashire climate Graham, but down in Cheshire we do like to care and share 🤣, the good news is it is brightening up here so hopefully clearer skies are heading your way on the southerly winds ......
