Dog in disgrace...

Has anyone got an idea how to rescue a tablet which was pee'd on by one disgraced dog? We left her in the van for an hour and she obviously got caught short and pee'd on the end of the bed! My trousers soaked most up but the tablet which was next to them will no longer turn on and I can see moisture in the camera lens! I dried it and have put it in the sun, but fear it will never be saved! Have googled it and found instant action is imperative ( did not realise till a few hours after the "event"!) Anyone else had to deal with anything like this?? Think it was fully charged and in sleep mode, so guess the liquid and electrics didn't go well!
The bed , luckily was dry, so i am now smug about being a slob and not putting my clothes away properly!
Chloe is ten now so guess she is less predictable than before...never usually has accidents!

Have you tried putting it in dry rice. It’s meant to absorb all the moisture.
You may be lucky?

Think it's too late for that now..the exterior is completely dry. Also no rice in van and it's Sunday in Spain! Happened yesterday afternoon, didn't realise till late last night.

Have you tried to open it up completely and try to dry it out like that

Can't get it apart...been trying this afternoon. It is so tight, I have cracked the corner trying to open it but still can't. It's a nexus ...don't know if that makes a difference? The lens no longer has misting and its been in the sun for a few hours.

It can take at least 48 hours to dry inside, a rice bath is a good call, and make sure you leave it switched off whilst drying. Also if you have a sim card in, take it out so that there is another aperture to allow the moisture to escape. Chances are it has shorted out if it was switched on when it happened, but it’s worth a try, nothing to lose.

No SIM card in it. Sure it was just in sleep mode...will keep trying to prise it open...guess if the case is cracked it will help it dry out too! Buy some rice tomorrow then also!

Got it apart...no apparent wet inside but will leave in the sun to warm and dry. Rice tomorrow....there is a copper strip both sides of the inner case which is very black?

Well folks, thanks for all the suggestions. Despite my best efforts, the tablet is definitely dead! Been in rice since last night ( van next door had some) and remains firmly off. Looks like I will be buying a new one when home....it wasn't great as pretty old but it had been good.

You could try a good soaking spray with some electrical switch cleaner allowing it to run off

On the innards or the outside... WD-40 type stuff?
Will it work if I leave it till next week when back in uk or is it something I should do now?

Put the dog out every three hours ,if not get someone else to do it for you

The answer is, just like we do, never ever leave your dogs alone.................. but mind you in every single thing we do, our beloved four egged friends always come first.

I am feeling rather judged now! We love our dog dearly and very very rarely is she left on her own! Sometimes though there really is no alternative... had to accompany Dave to hospital following a serious brain injury when we were on our own in a foreign country. I do not feel that she was neglected and just wanted advice on dealing with the damaged tablet. I accept that the incident occurred as she is older and probably a bit stressed due to the fuss round the accident. I hope you never are in the same situation # Millie master

I am so very sorry Ruth for upsetting you, but with dog theft being as high as it is in the UK then when we are away in 'Millie' we will never leave our 3 beauties unattended in the van.

However when we are at home we do occasionally go out and leave them behind but that is only after we have turned on all the security appliances.

We are members of several rescue charities and see on a daily basis how many are being stolen even from supposedly secure locations on a daily basis!

I sincerely hope your Dave is now once again fighting fit and Chloe is licking him back into the fittest of health, as for me, only 2 weeks ago I was a blues and two's passenger because of a heart scare but my most Wonderous (as I call her) stayed behind as no one knew how long I might be away from home.
