LOOKING FOR TIPS HERE
THINKING ON PUTTING A SMALL MICRO IN VAN HAS ANYONE RECOMENDATIONS ?
NOT WANTING A LARGE SIZED ONE

Asda do the Daewoo that is commonly fitted in the British M/H's. I'd stick to a 700-750w as even though most sites are supposedly rated 16A, it does vary and not uncommon that the post will trip out (if you've got your heating, fridge etc etc all on at the same time).
 
Our microwave works off a normal 3000W inverter not pure sine 😀

Same here..... 3000w mod sine inverter and a 900w (input power NOT cooking power)

Worth remembering that a lower power inverter will take longer to cook something than a higher power one BUT is likely to be kinder to the batteries in terms of how much power it drags out of the batteries....
I.E. the total power used will be the same but not dragged out in one big peak hit.

I also start the engine when we are using the microwave on the inverter 🚂
 
My understanding is that if you want to run a microwave from a modified sine wave inverter, it needs to be a non-digital microwave i.e. a basic one with no push buttons to set a timer display, but one with a simple dial that is used to set the duration.

Not true , ours is fully digital
 
It may work, but I think the point is that it's life may be shortened.

I see something like 130 amps when we run ours. Ouch.

Mabee so Steve but it has been running that way for 7 years now , probably longer than some that use 240v constantly
 
We had a digital one and never had an issue.... Only reason I changed it was it fell off the table it was on under 'spirited' cornering....

To be honest the only factual evidence of something being killed by mod sine wave I've come accross has been induction charged cordless toothbrushes....

We had a msw inverter on a boat which worked most things fine (apart from destroying toothbrushes) but caused a Toshiba laptop to crash whenever it was connected when in use.
