Which Satellite Dish

We have been looking at satellite dishes to compliment our Cello Traveller tv.
We rather fancy the Selfsat H50D2 which apparently is comparable to an 80cm dish, and it’s claimed that reception is fairly good most of the way down to the foreign.
Has anyone any advice or experience in this area please.

More and more people seem to be going down the “Streaming” route thus negating the need for a sat dish, worth investigating might save you a few bob.

Don't know which I'd choose streamin or satellite now. But if satellite I.d definitely go for a manual 80 cm dish like which I've used for 10 yrs on 2 vans now a Maxview still giving us some UK channels on the Algarve. Never needing any updates which seem to let a lot down when changes are needed with practice locating the sat is simple just by seeing where dishs in the area point and where the sun should be at midday

I have a Snipe on my van but don't use it, we have been using a Firestick for the last couple of years and I'm now thinking of removing the Snipe to make room for more solar.
We get everything on the Firestick we need and with a cheap cable we also watch movies etc. from a external HDD or memory stick.

I am a sport addict so have a roof mounted auto dish and use a sky box onboard to watch cricket etc on Sky.
How does streaming work ? Is it live ? Could I watch Sky etc ?
Does it rely on an internet connection so would be limited in out of the way locations etc if no signal ? I’ve never failed to have a satellite signal anywhere in the uk.
Just curious and may consider it in the future .

We have one in the van Terry good bit of kit.I just tether it to my phone .

It does need internet but I've found over the last couple of years that it's getting better and better and on the occassions I don't have any internet I watch something of my external HDD and I very rarely watch anything in the summer months. Sky are moving to streaming themselves and if you have Sky Q you're actually streaming to the other rooms from the main box and as home internet gets faster and more available across the country it makes sense for them to go the streaming route. They have Sky NOW which is a streaming service and they also have their Sky Go app which is available for the Firestick now. New housing estates around Shropshire aren't allowing Sky dishes to be installed so Sky have a large communal dish for those developments so the cost savings by streaming would be pretty good.
If you have never had any problems getting finding the satellite then your best keeping it, I on the other hand did have problems finding a satellite in some remote parts of Wales and Shropshire but got a decent mobile signal (even the Sky installer struggled at the bungalow I used rent in Telford). I also use a Apeman projector so I save on power as this is 5v USB powered like the Anker Soundcore speaker and Firestick so I can run it all of one of my Anker powerbanks I also have a pretty good mobile router setup in the van since going full time.

If you have a router you can connect the Firestick using ethernet with this lead and this hub, this is the setup I use but there are cheaper hubs that should work, eliminates the poor wifi signal and you can watch stuff off your memory stick or external HDD.

Not if you are using a UK SIM to tether your firestick to Roger, you won't need a VPN
