You may be right. Generally, they will be buying in whatever is available.
Mine uses commercial airsprings, which are way bigger, but they are taking all the weight of the rear of the van, not just helping a leaf spring.
The air tank is at about 150psi, I think (not sure: my gauge only reads to 100) and the pressure in the springs is controlled by automatic height-adjusting valves, but I assume it must be over 100psi, because when I pumped it to that, it wasn't at the normal ride height.
 
Hi How do you replace the valves please, think ours need replacing
they have a valve core like a schrader tyre valve so there is a little two prong tool that just unscrews the old core and then fit a new one .
