Borrowdale's Stonethwaite Campsite shuts after 'Covid campers' litter

The owners say they are fed up with people ignoring rules and leaving litter including tents.

Why don't they charge, say, a £50 deposit, refundable if you leave the place tidy. Bit like when a hotel takes a credit card impression in case you waltz off with the mini bar contents.

Having opened a campsite for six years I can't understand why these owners don't just " MAN UP " and ask them to leave.
We had one rule..." We reserve the right to ask you to leave at any time withing having to give a reason or refund" . It worked and we did not get one problem.

Agree, as soon as they seen it was a problem they should have just manned it better and threw them off, strange.
