Ducato Mileages

Had a driveshaft seal weeping at 9000 miles ( 2018 2.3 130bhp) fixed by Fiat Pro garage in a day. Now at 18000 and all perfect

I have a 1.5 Ducato first registered November 2016. I have just encountered its first problem. The Heater / Aircon fan stopped working at the slower speeds. Apart from the noise, it was great as the temp. outside was 40dgs. My engineer says that this is quite a common problem. I can now use the Aircon as it should be.

The fan speed control just switches resistors in series with the motor. This wastes a lot of heat and can cause the resistors to burn out. Easy to replace and fairly cheap, I think. Why they don't use a proper electronic speed control is probably just down to cost saving. Mercedes is no better.

I dont have a Ducato, but have been told the gearbox is its weak link. Has this been remedied on the later models?

There may be a quirk where the change from 1st to 2nd needs to be slightly slower then a "slam in it" change? Have others found this?

My Ducato 3 litre is very good I get 22 to 24 mpg and that's with cruise control set at 60mph but if you use the diesel heater at night it will drop to 17mpg.

Ducato 1.4 automatic. Around 26-28 mpg. so far at 2500 miles. But very thirsty on adblue, not helped by leak in filler pipe.
